How to Clean Android Devices

Saturday, March 07, 2015
A study of Avast antivirus vendors suggest that a factory reset on the Android operating system is not effective in combating your personal data from your old device.

The company buys twenty Android smartphones on eBay and more than 40,000 photos, 750 emails and text messages, and 250 contacts, together with the identity of the owner of the previous device. There are several steps you can take to secure your personal data when performing a factory reset.

  • Encryption

Before performing a factory reset, you can encrypt it first. To perform encryption on Android devices, you can open the menu settings> security> select Encrypt phone.

  • Factory reset

The next thing is to do a factory reset. On Android devices, there is a factory reset on the settings menu> backup & reset> Factory Data reset. To ensure your data is still safe, you should do a backup first.

  • Insert the dummy data

Following the first and second steps may be enough for most people. But this measure is able to add protection when you remove the personal data.
  • Perform a factory reset back

After the dummy data is inserted, once again did a factory reset so that your personal data is increasingly difficult to find. This is because your personal data has been buried under the dummy data.

If you still doubt, repeat the third and fourth steps as many times as you want. For most people, following the first and second step is enough.
