This dispute began on August 1, 2014 when Microsoft sued Samsung for Samsung no longer want to pay royalties on Android licensing uses.
As is known, in the contract signed in September 2011, Samsung agreed to pay royalties over Android patent license to Microsoft for every Android device sold. At that time, Samsung has not become the ruler of the Android device and still need support from Microsoft to develop Windows Phone.
This cross-licensing agreement resulted Samsung must pay a royalty of up to US $ 1 billion in 2013.
However, Samsung considers Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia in 2013 has violated one of the contractual agreements. This is considered sufficient reason for the South Korean company to stop paying royalties to Microsoft since 2014.
With the peaceful expression of both parties, there is the possibility of Samsung agrees to pay a sum of money to Microsoft as compensation for the cancellation of the contract.
